Recent models of disease and health requires evidence based practices which becomes critical in influencing and disseminating the most effective treatment strategies. With the HUGE burden of chronic conditions and mental health problems, a number of complementary methods of treatment are proving to be effective.
Mind-Body Medicine of Yoga Therapy is one of these complementary therapies that is not only very popular but also has become an evidence based healing modality especially for reducing stress related symptoms.
I have conducted one such study of my own and devleoped a Shared Care Y-TKM program after finding positive improvements in Patient Related Outcome Measures (PROMS). Please find my abstract in the Royal College of Medicine Conference, Innovations in medicine.
Aim of Shared Care Y-TKM is to offer service delivery system that meets medical, physical, psychological and social needs for person with LTC and transform the relationship between patient and clinician.
The outcomes were: an increase in wellbeing and activity levels; reduced anxiety/depression; reduced symptoms distress; reduced GP visits and secondary care referrals and stable or reduced medication usage
